A Growth Market for Agriculture

The BTL production plant in Freiberg requires roughly 65,000 t of dry biomass. Agreements have already been signed to provide most of this for several years. Most of the raw materials are forest timber, recycled wood and waste products from saw mills.

About 1,000,000 t of dry matter are needed to supply a large industrial-scale BTL production plant every year. Almost any kind of biomass is feasible, provided that it is dry, free-flowing and complies with the German Biomass Order.

Here are some examples of biomass, which can be used in BTL production:

  • wood chips from forest timber
  • wood chips from rapid turnover plantations
  • straw briquettes
  • whole plant briquettes
  • miscanthus
  • waste cereal products, energy crops
  • waste products from sawmills
  • recycled wood (A1, A2)

Market participants who are interested in a cooperation can obtain the specifications for the various raw materials by sending an e-mail to biomass@choren.com

Please attach your complete address and a description of the co-operation possibilities to your inquiry.
