Policy Statement by the CHOREN Group on Health, Safety and the Environment

CHOREN is developing technologies and manufacturing products, designed to reduce the long-term damage to the environment. As a result, the group feels a particularly keen sense of responsibility to pursue an active environmental policy and fulfill its social obligations.

Ensuring people’s safety, protecting the environment and guaranteeing plant safety are high priorities in our opinion and an intrinsic part of the efforts being made by all CHOREN companies to provide high-quality products, services and business processes.

This policy is fundamental to our business and is intended to ensure the long term success of our group. We will implement and accommodate this policy in every department.

We hereby declare that the following principles governing Health, Safety and Environmental protection form the basis of our company operations and confirm that they are an integral part of our company goals and quality philosophy:

• The safety of human beings and the environment is an absolute priority when operating equipment, developing processes or products and when manufacturing or supplying our products.
• We shall comply with all valid laws, regulations and obligations imposed on us by the authorities.
• We set goals to continually improve the protection of health, safety and the environment and monitor processes to ensure that these goals are achieved.
• Health, safety and environmental issues form an integral part of every line managers’ responsibilities.
• We shall reinforce all staff members’ awareness of HSE principles by providing comprehensive in-house instruction and training and shall motivate them to pursue these goals in any actions that they take.
• We are convinced that we can avoid accidents, breakdowns with environmental consequences or quality defects. To achieve this, we employ and use a risk management system within our integrated management systems.
• We shall insist that our suppliers and cooperation partners also implement our in-house principles on HSE policy.
• We shall use natural resources carefully, in an environmentally-friendly manner, efficiently and sparingly.
• We shall pursue open and businesslike communications with our customers, neighbors, the general public and public authorities.
• Within our companies, we shall embrace a “no blame” culture to foster openness and mutual trust. If mistakes are made, the primary issue is not to apportion blame, but to recognize the causes, eliminate them and learn from mistakes.
• It is our aim to promote a company culture, where all CHOREN staff members can fully identify with these obligations.
