Summary
This position offers the unique opportunity to work on the leading edge of gasification and renewable fuel technologies presenting the chance to take part in shaping the renewable energy market in the US.
This position will provide project management expertise and leadership in support of planning, permitting, construction, acceptance testing, operation, maintenance, and optimization of CHOREN USA gasification and renewable energy plants in the Americas.
As part of the CHOREN USA team, the candidate will work in a small internationally diverse team and will have the opportunity to travel to Freiberg, Germany for limited training and commissioning experience in the world’s first commercial BtL plant located at CHOREN Industries headquarters. During that training, this position will also provide project management and leadership experience in the front-end phase of a “Sigma” BtL facility (600 MWth) in Schwedt, Germany.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Planning industrial plant layouts, including:
• Developing plant models utilizing Fischer-Tropsch and gasification processes
• Developing construction plans based on process engineering requirements for the production of synthetic liquid fuels, heat, and electricity from biomass or coal gasification
• Coordinating all plant segments and interfaces
• Preparing technical bid specifications for cooperation partners, subcontractors, and plant procurements
• Leading and directing all engineering and subcontractor interfaces
- Project Development, including:
• Leading and directing all activities related to EPCM, contractors, subcontractors, and cooperation partners
• Guiding and implementing commissioning efforts
• Scheduling, budgeting, and controlling costs
German language schooling will be provided and is not a prerequisite.
Minimum Requirements
- MS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- 8 to 12 years of related experience in planning, construction, and operations of process engineering plants
- Registration as a Professional Engineer
- Proficiency in industry standard software packages
- Strong leadership and communications skills
- Ability to provide technical guidance on complex issues
- Ability to travel to Freiberg, Germany for training
