CHOREN USA is the subsidiary of CHOREN Industries GmbH of Germany, the world’s leading entity in the commercialization of Biomass-to-Liquids (BtL) fuels and the winner of both the European and the German Awards for Environmentally Friendly Technology 2008, presented by the EU and the Association of German Industry (BDI), respectively. CHOREN, and its equity partners VW and Daimler have invested into a commercial scale demonstrator plant with Shell’s middle distillate synthesis (SMDS) FT technology, which is expected to go into production in 2009.

CHOREN’s Carbo V^® entrained flow gasification technology is the only technology on the market today that is viable on commercial scale when dealing with 100% biomass feedstock as it maximizes the conversion of energy and usable carbon while minimizing the production of tars and pollutants yielding a raw syngas of the highest quality. Both are essential characteristics for economic viability of biomass gasification considering the low energy content of biomass and the reduced requirement for equipment and energy consumption in the downstream gas cleaning process. CHOREN are also active in the coal gasification field, and have further developed and commercialized entrained flow coal gasification with the CHOREN Coal Gasifier.

CHOREN USA is in the process of expanding and developing its in-house engineering and project delivery capabilities in the United States and the Americas. CHOREN USA will provide engineering services during the early phases of project development for either CHOREN internal projects or third party licensees globally. CHOREN’s technologies are applicable in the fields of synthesis gas generation from coal, biomass or other carbon feed sources, for the production of synthetic fuels, industrial feedstock, intermediate chemicals, alcohols, hydrogen or electricity.
