科林荣获欧盟及德国环保技术奖

In the last few days CHOREN was honoured twice for its engagement in second generation biofuels.
On June 3rd, the European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas recognized CHOREN as one of four of this year's winners at an awards ceremony in Brussels then today CHOREN received the German Industry Environmental Award.

At its annual meeting the Federal Association of the German Industry, BDI, conferred its Environment Award in the category Environmentally Friendly Technologies on CHOREN. In the hangar of Berlin-Tempelhof Airport the BDI Director General, Dr. Werner Schnappauf, presented the award to CHOREN, for “Sustainable production of synthetic biofuel by the Carbo-V-process”.

BDI President Jürgen R. Thumann emphasized: „The winners are excellent examples that sustainability is for German Industry – both obligation and reality. In particular the awarded companies are leading the way.
The competition proceeds in two phases: First at a national level, then it is continued as a European contest, the European Business Awards for the Environment of the EU commission.
Here too CHOREN prevailed.

The European awards ceremony took place on the 3rd of June in Brussels. Eleven companies were nominated out of more than 125 applications for awards given in four categories. In the final, CHOREN won in the category “process” ahead of Germany’s Bayer AG and the Dutch DHV.
The jury statement justified its decision: “The company was selected for developing a process that produces high-purity biofuel from biomass. The second-generation biofuel, which does not use plants intended for food, is low in pollutants, almost CO₂- neutral and compatible with current and future diesel engine technology.”

The 18-headed international commission of experts already underlined in the nomination of CHOREN, that controlled and efficient biofuel production is an important contribution to EU policy regarding renewable energy.“

“These Awards acknowledge the activities of the most eco-innovative European companies and play a major role in identifying and promoting best practices,” said Stavros Dimas, European Commissioner for the Environment during the announcement of the nominations in March. “EBAE winners are the best of the best: the most far-sighted, responsible and innovative companies in Europe.”

For CEO Tom Blades, CHOREN is encouraged to continue its engagement in synthetic biofuels. ”The European and the German Awards for Environmentally Friendly Technology are both appreciation and further motivation to intensify the efforts. At present, the world’s first commercial BtL production plant is in commissioning in Freiberg. In parallel we are already working on a concept for the first BtL plant on an industrial scale that is about 15 times bigger. With an annual output of 270 million litres of biosynthetic fuel this plant will make a significant contribution towards achieving the the climate objectives for road traffic.”

German company CHOREN Industries believes BTL fuels could meet 10 percent of Germany’s transport fuel needs by 2015. Its ‘Carbo-V’ process turns wood and other biomass into ‘SunDiesel’, capturing the attention of major corporations such as Volkswagen and and DaimlerChrysler.
